Some Newborn Pics

Here are a couple of newborn pics of Corey, compliments of my sis-in-law Kylie. The other baby with Corey is my sister Trisha's little girl, Mackenzie. Both were delivered on the same day by the same doctor.

Here he is!

Corey Scott Rork arrived at 8:10 a.m. on Monday, March 17th. He weighed 8 lbs. 2 oz. and was 19.25 inches long. He has a ton of dark brown hair and needs a hair cut already. We got home from the hospital Thursday morning. Brady, Delaney and Natalie are all very excited to have him home. Thanks to all those who helped with our other kids, bringing us dinners, visiting us in the hospital, etc. We are so grateful for all of you. Come on by if you're in the neighborhood. We'd love for you to meet our new addition.

8 Days to go...but who's counting?!?

I have mixed emotions knowing this pregnancy is almost over. I have thought a lot about my good friends who have recently lost their pregnancies and the sadness, frustration, and pain that all brings with it. I have thought about my two good girlfriends, who I consider my sisters, whose struggle with infertility seems lifelong. I think about Corey Lawton and his courageous struggle with cancer. He really fought the good, long fight. I know God welcomed him with open arms... I know Scott misses him tremendously. Hopefully this little Corey will develop the same courage if life hands him struggles, which it will. We all have them. I think about my aching back, lack of sleep, heartburn, weight gain, and the whole lot of it with different perspective. I will miss feeling this little boy inside me. The hiccups, the kicks in the ribs, the elbow jabs. I am grateful to have the chance to be a mom, 4 times over. I can't wait to meet this little one. I hope he can't wait to meet me.

Who is Corey and why are we naming our son after him?

Many of you may be wondering why we picked the name Corey.(Maybe you're not). I thought I'd give you a little background into who Corey was. Corey Lawton was a Battalion chief for the Gila River Fire Department. He was a funny guy who always teased me and the kids. He also made sure they always got a ride on the fire truck. He was a friend, confidant, and workout partner to Scott. He was diagnosed with Hodgkins Lymphoma a few years back and made it to remission. Then he started having a hard time talking. At Scott's urging, he reluctantly went to his oncologist. His cancer was back. This time he didn't beat it. He was 36 years old. I will always remember his huge smile, positive attitude, and laugh that was bigger than he was. The link has a picture from his funeral last September.

The Corey Chain

With each pregnancy I make a paper chain to count down the days. This year I got the kids involved. Officially we are 90 days away from our St. Patricks day delivery. Keep your fingers crossed that we make it! So far my blood pressure hasn't acted up, and usually by now it has. We're excited to add this addition to our family. You will notice I agreed to add the 'e' to Corey's name. I think it's more Irish that way, and it's the way Scott's friend spelled his name, which is the whole reason we are naming him Corey.
