The Best Day Ever!!

This is a picture of Lucy, her husband Jerry, and their daughter Maddie. I met Lucy in 1996 when we both worked for Credit Data Southwest, a credit reporting agency in downtown Phoenix. Jerry and Lucy were married in 1994 and have been trying to have a baby since then. That's a LONG time. A few years ago they decided to try adoption through LDS social services. They were chosen by a birth mom in California. They were very much a part of the whole process, from ultra sounds to being in the delivery room. Jerry cut the cord, Lucy was wheeled out of the hospital as though she had given birth herself. A day that can't be described with words or without a lot of tears of joy. After a month of being Maddie's mom and dad, a social worker came to pick Maddie up and take her back to California. The birth father did not want to sign over parental rights. Again, a day that can't be described with any word other than nightmare. The courts had to figure out who would be the parents of this little angel. To make a long story short, the courts turned Maddie over to Jerry and Lucy, and she returned to their home at 6 months old. After waiting for what seemed to be a lifetime, Maddie was legally adopted and sealed to her parents for time and all eternity. What a great day! We are so grateful to have been a part of that wonderful sealing.
